## Description

Darkify adds **WordPress Dark Mode** and **Night Mode** to both the website frontend
and the WordPress admin dashboard. Visitors can switch between light and dark themes
using a toggle, while site owners control how dark mode behaves across the frontend,
admin panel, and editors.

Darkify supports **frontend dark mode**, **admin dashboard dark mode**, and **editor-
specific dark mode** for Gutenberg (Block Editor) and the Classic Editor. It includes
OS-aware detection, default dark mode, time-based scheduling, keyboard shortcuts,
and multiple toggle placement options. Designed for performance and compatibility,
Darkify works seamlessly with popular WordPress themes, page builders, and WooCommerce—
without modifying theme files or requiring custom code.

Site owners can customize dark mode colors, switches, media handling, and element
visibility. Darkify also provides controls for images, videos, scrollbars, mobile
behavior, and page or element-level targeting to ensure dark mode integrates cleanly
with different themes, builders, and layouts.

#### How Darkify Works

Darkify applies dark mode styling using configurable rules rather than modifying
theme files. You can enable dark mode globally or limit it to specific areas, pages,
posts, or elements. Settings can be adjusted from a centralized admin panel and
reused across different sites using import and export tools.

Darkify is designed to work with popular WordPress themes, page builders, and multisite
installations, allowing dark mode to be configured without requiring custom code.

#### Why Choose Darkify?

✔ Dark mode for frontend and admin dashboard
 ✔ Works with Gutenberg, Elementor,
and popular builders ✔ OS-aware, scheduled, and manual switching ✔ Lightweight and
performance-focused ✔ No theme modification required

#### Key Features of Darkify Dark mode Plugin

 * **Frontend Dark Mode**: Enable dark mode on the public-facing website and allow
visitors to switch between light and dark themes using a toggle.
 * **Admin Dashboard Dark Mode**: Apply dark mode to the WordPress admin area to
provide a darker interface while managing site content and settings.
 * **Editor-Specific Dark Mode**: Enable dark mode independently for the WordPress
Admin Panel, Block Editor (Gutenberg), and Classic Editor — darken the editor
while the rest of the dashboard stays light, or the other way around.
 * **Default Dark Mode**: Load the website in dark mode by default while allowing
visitors to switch back to light mode at any time.
 * **OS-Aware Dark Mode**: Detect the visitor’s operating system preference and
automatically apply light or dark mode accordingly.
 * **Time-Based Dark Mode**: Schedule automatic switching between light and dark
mode based on a defined time range.
 * **Keyboard Shortcut**: Allow users to toggle dark mode with a keyboard shortcut.**
Ctrl + Alt + D** works out of the box, and you can record any key combination
   you prefer instead.
 * **Multiple Floating Switch Designs**: Choose from 5 floating switch styles —
16 in total with Pro — and pick the screen corner it sits in, with its own margin
   controls.
 * **Switch Attention Effect**: Enable an animation on the floating switch to draw
visitor attention. Choose from multiple effect styles including Pulse to highlight
   the toggle without being intrusive.
 * **Customizable Switch**: Adjust the switch size, colors, icons, and styling to
   match the site’s design.
 * **Switch in Menu**: Insert the dark mode toggle into selected WordPress navigation
   menus.
 * **Shortcode Switch**: Place the dark mode toggle anywhere on the site using a
shortcode, including pages, posts, widgets, or templates. Style it independently
of the floating switch, or reuse the global settings.
 * **Dark Mode Gutenberg Block**: Instantly add a sleek dark mode toggle to any
post or page using the Gutenberg block. Place it anywhere and give your visitors
full control over their viewing experience.
 * **Per-Block Switch Styling**: Set the switch style, size, background, icon color,
text color, border, corner radius, and alignment for each block directly inside
   the Gutenberg editor.
 * **Dark Mode Elementor Widget**: Seamlessly insert a customizable dark mode switch
into any Elementor layout. Design it your way and match it perfectly with your
   site’s style.
 * **Dark Mode Widget Support**: Easily enable dark mode for WordPress widgets and
keep your entire site visually consistent—no extra setup, no hassle.
 * **Multiple Switch Placement Options**: Display the dark mode toggle as a floating
button, menu item, shortcode, or by targeting a custom CSS selector.
 * **Mobile-Specific Controls**: Control switch visibility, position, spacing, and
   behavior separately for mobile devices.
 * **Color Presets & Customization**: Choose from 5 predefined dark color presets—
11 in total with Pro — or manually configure background, text, link, and UI colors.
 * **Dark Mode Scrollbar Styling**: Optionally apply dark styling to browser scrollbars
for a more consistent dark interface.
 * **Advanced Image Control**: Adjust image brightness, contrast, and grayscale
settings to improve image visibility in dark mode.
 * **Video Control**: Modify video brightness and grayscale settings to better match
   dark mode layouts.
 * **Element-Level Control**: Include or exclude specific HTML elements, tags, classes,
or IDs from dark mode styling.
 * **Iframe Dark Mode**: Keep embedded content in step with the active theme. Same-
origin iframes are styled directly, and cross-origin embeds are notified of theme
changes so they can follow along.
 * **Live Preview**: See your own site with your unsaved settings applied, right
beside the settings — with desktop and mobile views, a refresh control, and a
   full screen mode.
 * **Settings Search**: Press Ctrl+K (Cmd+K on macOS) to jump straight to any setting
from anywhere in the panel, without hunting through tabs.
 * **Reset to Defaults**: Restore a single section or every setting at once, each
   behind a confirmation step.
 * **Settings Backup & Restore**: Export plugin settings to a file and import them
on another site or restore them later.
 * **Clean Uninstall Option**: Optionally remove plugin settings and data from the
   database when uninstalling the plugin.
 * **Page Builder Compatibility**: Compatible with popular page builders such as
Elementor, Divi, WPBakery, Beaver Builder, Visual Composer, and Oxygen.
 * **Easy Settings Panel**: Manage every feature from one modern, centralized settings
panel in the WordPress admin area — organized into clear sections, usable on
phones and tablets, with instant saves and clear success and error messages.
 * **Multisite Support**: Configure dark mode settings for WordPress multisite networks,
   globally or per site.
 * **Multilingual Ready**: Translation-ready and compatible with multilingual WordPress
   setups.
 * **Theme Compatibility**: Designed to work with most WordPress themes without
   requiring theme-specific modifications.
 * **Developer-Friendly**: Provides a structured and extensible codebase that developers
can customize using hooks and filters.
 * **Cross-Browser Compatibility**: Designed to work across modern browsers such
as Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, Opera, etc.
 * **Documentation & Support**: User guides, tutorials, and support are available
through documentation and the WordPress.org support forums.

### External services

Darkify uses the [Appsero](https://appsero.com) SDK to collect some telemetry data
upon the user’s confirmation. This helps us troubleshoot problems faster and make
product improvements.

Appsero SDK **does not gather any data by default.** The SDK only starts gathering
basic telemetry data **when a user allows it via the admin notice**. We collect
the data to ensure a great user experience for all our users.

Integrating the Appsero SDK **DOES NOT IMMEDIATELY** start gathering data, **without
confirmation from users in any case.**

If you decline the notice, the SDK sends one anonymous request recording that telemetry
was declined — it contains a random site identifier only, and no data about you,
your site or your visitors. Nothing further is sent, and the weekly telemetry schedule
is never started.

Learn more about how [Appsero collects and uses this data](https://appsero.com/privacy-policy/).

### Development

Darkify’s settings screen is a React application. The compiled bundle that ships
in `src/Admin/assets/js/` is built from the readable source included in this plugin
under `darkify-react/`.

To rebuild it from that source:

 1. `cd darkify-react`
 2. `npm install`
 3. `npm run build`

The build writes `darkify-admin.js` and `darkify-admin.css` back into `src/Admin/
assets/js/`. Everything else in the plugin — PHP, the frontend engine in `src/assets/
js/client_main.js`, and its stylesheets — ships as readable source and requires
no build step. Translation files are regenerated with `npm run i18n` from the plugin
root.

frontend is disabled.

### Does Darkify support automatic switching based on OS settings?

iOS, or Android) and matches your site accordingly.

Yes, the plugin includes a **Time Based Auto Dark Mode** feature where you can pick
a specific “From” and “To” time to automate the transition based on the user’s local
time.

Darkify includes **Image and Video Controls** that allow you to lower brightness,
apply grayscale levels, or even replace specific media files with dark-mode-optimized
versions to maintain a perfect aesthetic.

### 󠀁[TOTAL FRONTEND BREAKER. Disappointing perforance for on 2026](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/total-frontend-breaker-disappointing-perforance-for-on-2026/)󠁿

 [SatoshiSea](https://profiles.wordpress.org/satoshisea/) agosto 9, 2026 3 replies

It’s utter garbage. It doesn’t even work with the paid plan. It’s slow, lacks CSS
control over hard-coded styles that relentlessly and inevitably execute pseudo-elements,
and isn’t compatible with any wordpress thee, or customized css /design /tokens
system integrated or builder (Bricks, Divi, Enfold, Elementor, Beaver, etc). The
only one that was ore suitable was the Block builder/Gutembertg, but thats not what
most designers are aiming for on 2026. Evcen tried disabling every plugin on my
system and the same output… and is unbelievable that just on that ters i can have
a really slow but decent dark mode peforance with 350mb of emory on tav perforance
becasue of all the heavy load hardcoded rules that are useless for a single page
and soe few tokens i just set up… totally mindless and not meant to work with the
current existent Production and Commercial Leader themes and syastems, and not even
able to compatibilize with customizations or ewven the basic wordpress customizer
override. First, it simply does not work reliably. Across multiple environments (
Windows, macOS, Linux) and browsers (Firefox, Chromium-based, Opera), the result
is the same: activating the toggle frequently freezes the tab entirely. No console
output, no debug information—just a complete lock-up. On the rare occasion it does
load, it can take several minutes. Second, the implementation is fundamentally flawed.
The plugin relies on aggressive, hard-coded CSS rules with excessive use of !important,
which override everything—including pseudo-elements, overlays, transparency, and
background images. This destroys any non-trivial UI. There is no meaningful way
to control or override these styles. Third, there is no real developer support:
No proper debugging tools or logs No useful technical documentation No guidance
for integration with custom themes or design systems Fourth, the architecture shows
clear limitations. Instead of using modern approaches like tokenization, root variable
swapping, or contrast-aware color transformation, it applies brute-force class and
style overrides. This makes it incompatible with most real-world themes and completely
unsuitable for custom UI systems. Finally, the free version is extremely restricted,
but even reviewing the codebase suggests that the “pro” features do not address
these core issues—they are just gated additions on top of a broken foundation. This
plugin has a promising idea, but the execution is severely lacking in performance,
adaptability, and engineering quality. I cannot understand the high ratings given
its current behavior. At this point, it’s more practical to build a custom solution
than rely on this plugin.I hope this feedback, filled with disappointment, helps
the team move towards a proper CSS product and a state-of-the-art plugin, like the
one I so desperately needed when I was about to buy yours.

The default settings for this plug-in immediately worked well on my site. Responsive
and accurate support from the darkify team helped to quickly implement minor tweaks
needed to match the site’s look-and-feel.

Unfortunately, I suffer from a bothersome photophobia, which completely blinds me
for several minutes when I look at a snow-white page, and to a lesser extent, when
looking at light-colored pages. Until I found this plugin, the options for avoiding
glare didn’t address the problem properly, as they simply darkened and dimmed the
screen without any control and, above all, without offering me any variety or nuance
of dark colors, some of which were aesthetically pleasing.

Went through about six different dark mode plugins before I found Darkify (free
version), which has been working great on my site. I am very happy that I can do
things like include custom CSS, use it in specific menus, toggle sticky, and more.
Support was very quick to respond to some incompatibility issues with my theme,
and now it’s looking and working nearly perfect.

Finally, a dark mode plugin that actually works without any hassle! I’m a dark mode
enthusiast, and I wanted my website visitors to have that same comfort. This plugin
delivered exactly that. The integration is smooth, and the included themes look
premium. Thank you for this amazing work!

## Changelog

#### 2.0.3 – 11 August 2026

 * Fixed: Pages could freeze or crawl once dark mode was on, worse the larger the
page. Every element was watched for class changes individually, and each watcher
had to be re-registered across the whole document whenever anything changed —
on a 2,929-element page that came to 1.23 million registrations during load and
6.31 million on a single toggle, growing with the square of the page size. One
watcher now covers the document, registered once, and the cost no longer scales
   with the page.
 * Improved: Pages that keep changing after load — infinite scroll, carousels, WooCommerce
cart and fragment refreshes, page builders and anything React-rendered — no longer
re-scan the entire document on every change. Only the newly inserted parts are
examined, so a long page stays as responsive as a short one.
 * Improved: Switching between light and dark now only revisits the elements Darkify
actually styled, and reads each one’s colours once instead of twice, so the toggle
settles noticeably faster on large pages.
 * Fixed: The dark mode toggle snapped between states instead of animating. Darkify
pauses CSS transitions while it reads a page’s real colours, and the switcher
was being caught by that pause even though its colours are never read.
 * Improved: Pausing transitions during a pass is now a single rule on the page
root rather than an inline style written to and removed from every element, which
removed one forced style recalculation per element from every pass.
 * Changed: The screen no longer dims while a page loads in dark mode. The brightness
baseline added in 2.0.2 covered the gap before the first pass, but on a slow
page it read as a grey overlay sitting over the whole site until loading finished,
and it returned on every navigation. The page background is painted dark from
the first frame instead, and the safety timeout that clears it drops from 2s
   to 0.8s.
 * Added: A developer diagnostics mode for support and debugging, off by default
and invisible to visitors. Add `?darkify_debug=1` to any URL, then run `darkifyDebug.
report()` in the browser console for pass counts, timings and the number of elements
   Darkify processed.

#### 2.0.2 – 10 August 2026

 * Added: Polish translation. The whole settings panel — every section, field label,
description, button and message — now reads in Polish when Site Language is set
   to Polski.
 * Added: The settings panel can be translated at all. Most of what you see on screen
is drawn by the React admin, and none of that text was ever collected into the
plugin’s translation template, so roughly 300 strings were invisible to translators.
The template now covers the panel as well as the rest of the plugin.
 * Fixed: Translations never loaded. The plugin looked for its language files in
a folder that cannot exist, so the settings screen stayed in English on every
   site, in every language.
 * Fixed: The settings panel stayed English on a translated site even once the language
files were found, because its text was prepared before WordPress had loaded the
   translations.
 * Fixed: Saving settings failed while Chrome’s built-in page translation was switched
on. Browser translation rewrites the page underneath the settings panel, and
the crash landed on Save — which is what made it look like saving was broken.
The panel now declines browser translation and ships real translations instead.
 * Fixed: Changing the site language could leave the settings panel empty, reporting
that the section no longer exists. Section and tab links were built from their
own translated titles, so they changed with the language and every link stopped
   matching.
 * Fixed: Hovering a WordPress admin menu item while on Darkify’s screens showed
no submenu on sites whose admin menu is taller than the screen, leaving other
plugins’ submenus unreachable without navigating away first.
 * Fixed: The HTML/CSS Restriction and Page/Posts Restriction tabs showed a generic
gear instead of their own icons.
 * Added: Fine-Tuning — a new section in Colors for the parts of a design that a
background and text colour cannot describe on their own: how gradients, shadows
and brand colours are carried into dark mode.
 * Added: Gradient Backgrounds control. Gradients live in a different CSS property
than a solid colour, so they used to sit out dark mode entirely and stayed bright.
Each colour stop is now run through the same ramp a solid background gets, so
a gradient section and the solid section beside it still look like one design.
Flatten to a solid dark background, or leave gradients untouched, if you prefer.
 * Added: Box & Text Shadows control. A shadow coloured for a light page stays lit
on a dark one and cancels out the dimming. Shadows now keep their geometry —
so cards keep their depth — while losing the colour that made them glow. They
can also be remapped, removed, or left alone.
 * Added: Accent & Icon Colors control. Brand colours keep their hue while their
depth is matched to your preset, so an intense accent stays on-brand without
glowing on a dark page. This is not an inversion: a blue icon stays blue. Switch
to Flatten to replace brand colours with your preset colours instead.
 * Added: Color Overrides. Pin any light-mode colour to an exact dark-mode replacement,
and choose whether it applies everywhere or only to text, icons, backgrounds,
borders or shadows. Overrides are matched against the colour the element actually
renders with, so a handful of colours can be pinned without changing how the
rest of the site is handled.
 * Added: Your settings are now written out when the plugin first runs, so the site
matches what the settings screen shows. Previously a fresh install rendered the
Classic switcher on the frontend while the settings screen showed Orbit.
 * Improved: Scrollbar dark mode now covers the browser’s own furniture — the page
scrollbar, the scrollbars of every scrolling box inside the page, and the controls
the browser renders itself — in Firefox as well as Chromium and Safari. The thumb
is drawn as an inset pill rather than a full-width slab, and scrollbar dark mode
   is now on by default.
 * Improved: Pages that load straight into dark mode no longer flash their light-
mode colours while the page is still being read. A brightness baseline covers
the gap and lifts as soon as the real colours are in place.
 * Fixed: Section backgrounds built from a tinted off-white — the light grey-blues
most themes use to separate one band of a page from the next — were read as brand
colours and kept a hue you never chose instead of following your background setting.
Astra, Kadence and GeneratePress layouts are all affected.
 * Fixed: Small controls could disappear into the page. Price slider tracks and
handles, quantity steppers, thin dividers and progress bars now keep enough contrast
to be seen and used, while large dark sections are left as the design intended.
 * Fixed: Icons drawn as grey SVG shapes stayed at their light-mode colour, so plus/
minus and similar glyphs read as near-black on a dark page.
 * Fixed: Buttons a theme styles as plain text links — “Remove”, “Edit”, “Cancel”—
no longer get a filled box behind them, while icon buttons keep their dark hover
   state.
 * Fixed: A single colour the engine could not read no longer stops the rest of
the page being processed, which could leave a page dark at the top and light
   below.
 * Changed: Fine-Tuning sits directly after Preset in the Colors section, with an
icon that matches what it does.
 * Changed: The frontend script no longer loads jQuery, removing a dependency from
pages that did not otherwise need it.

#### 2.0.1 – 31 July 2026

 * Fixed: The settings sidebar no longer loses its full height on sites with a long
WordPress admin menu — the admin menu scrolls on its own again, separately from
   the plugin’s own settings area.

#### 2.0.0 – 28 July 2026

 * Added: Completely rebuilt admin interface — a modern React settings panel with
a section sidebar, a new admin header, redesigned settings screens, and toast
   notifications for saves and errors.
 * Added: Live Preview — see your own site with your unsaved settings applied, right
beside the settings. Includes desktop and mobile device views, a refresh control,
   and a full screen mode.
 * Added: Settings Search — press Ctrl+K (Cmd+K on macOS) anywhere in the settings
to jump straight to any option. Navigate results with the arrow keys and press
Enter; the field is highlighted on arrival.
 * Added: Reset controls — reset just the section you are on, or every setting at
once, each behind a confirmation dialog.
 * Added: New Tools page collecting the maintenance utilities — Clean-up Data on
Deletion, plus Backup & Restore to export your settings as a .json file and import
   them back later.
 * Added: Keyboard Shortcut is now configurable — record your own key combination
instead of the fixed default (Ctrl+Alt+D). The shortcut matches the physical
key, so macOS Option characters no longer break it.
 * Added: Switch Position is now a visual picker — click the corner you want, with
its own margin controls for that corner.
 * Added: Shortcode switches can be styled independently — turn off “Use Global
Switch Settings” to give a shortcode its own style, size, colors, and border
without touching the site-wide floating switch.
 * Added: Switch Text Color control for the Dual switch style, with separate light
   and dark mode colors.
 * Added: Alternative Dark Mode Switch now validates your CSS selectors as you type
and reports an invalid selector inline.
 * Added: The settings screen now works on phones and tablets — the header nav becomes
a slide-out drawer with the same sections and tabs.
 * Added: Color fields now accept HEX, RGB(A) and HSL(A) values. Pick a color visually
or type any supported format, with a format switcher and validation for invalid
   values.
 * Added: Switch Border now has a Dark Mode border color control alongside the light
   mode color.
 * Added: Redesigned Get Help page with four tabs — Get Started (video tutorials),
Recommended (one-click install for our free plugins), Lite vs Pro comparison,
   and Pro Plugins.
 * Improved: Every settings page is now grouped into clearly separated cards with
a short intro line, so long pages are easier to scan.
 * Improved: Standalone toggles now save automatically, so switching an option applies
it right away without a separate save step.
 * Improved: Dark mode now recognises admin screens from other plugins that ship
their own dark theme and leaves them to it, instead of double-darkening them.
The standard `dark` class is mirrored on every admin screen, so those apps follow
your Admin Dark Mode setting automatically.
 * Improved: Block Editor Dark Mode is now independent of Admin Panel Dark Mode —
you can darken the editor while the rest of wp-admin stays light.
 * Improved: When Frontend Dark Mode is turned off, Darkify now loads nothing at
all on the front end — no CSS, no JS, no inline output.
 * Improved: Pro-only settings now use a clearer locked-field design with PRO badges,
so it is obvious at a glance which features are part of Pro.
 * Improved: Setting defaults resolve more reliably, so a fresh install shows the
   documented values on every screen.
 * Improved: Settings screens now show a loading placeholder while the options load,
instead of a blank or half-built page.
 * Improved: All existing settings are preserved — no reconfiguration is needed
   after updating.
 * Improved: Smaller plugin download after removing the retired options framework
and the old help page assets.
 * Fixed: Admin dark mode could fail to apply because the inline theme script was
   altered before it ran.
 * Fixed: Replace Images and Replace Videos are Pro-only features and no longer
appear editable in the free version.
 * Fixed: Live Preview no longer gets clipped or cut off on smaller screens — it
now scales to fit the available space at any window size.
 * Fixed: Live Preview in full screen now always appears above the admin header,
   at any scroll position.
 * Fixed: Live Preview now reflects the Menu Switch toggle before you save, like
   every other setting.
 * Fixed: The switch could lose its own positioning context, letting a theme’s wrapper
shift the inner toggle out of place.
 * Fixed: The Orbit switch could be stretched into a full-width bar when placed
inside a nav menu or widget area that lays its children out with flexbox.
 * Changed: Dark Scroll Bar is now off by default on new installs. Existing sites
   keep their saved setting.
 * Changed: Minimum WordPress version is now 5.5.
 * Removed: “Live Demo” and “Open Docs” buttons from individual settings fields.
 * Removed: Custom scrollbar arrow-button images — the scrollbar now uses the browser’s
   native arrows in dark mode.

#### 1.5.5 – 24 June 2026

 * Added: Different Switch in Mobile — configure a completely separate floating
switch for mobile screens, including its own toggler style, size, background,
icon color, border, and attention effect.
 * Improved: When enabled, the mobile switch settings override the default switch
only on mobile devices (≤600px); desktop continues to use the default configuration.
 * Fixed: Mobile switch icon centering — the swap between the default and mobile
switch now toggles visibility without overriding the flexbox centering, so the
icon stays perfectly centered in every switch style.

#### 1.5.4 – 05 June 2026

 * Added: New Frontend Iframe Dark Mode option to enable or disable dark mode specifically
for frontend iframes (enabled by default for backward compatibility).
 * Added: Dark mode now synchronizes with content loaded inside iframes. Same-origin
iframes are styled directly (dark class, CSS variables, and element processing
injected into the frame); cross-origin iframes receive the active theme through
   a postMessage bridge.
 * Added: Real-time iframe theme sync — toggling dark mode or changing the color
palette updates iframe content instantly, on both initial load and live changes,
   without a page reload.
 * Improved: Iframe sections now respect the Dark Primary / Dark Secondary structure,
matching the primary/secondary background logic used for regular page elements.
 * Fixed: Iframe colors lagged one palette behind due to the palette being applied
after the iframe sync; the palette is now applied before iframes are synced.
 * Fixed: Live theme changes did not reach cross-origin iframes — the broadcast
was skipped by the cross-origin document-access guard, so updates only appeared
   after a manual reload.

#### 1.5.3 – 19 May 2026

 * Added: Switch Attention Effect option — enable an animation (pulse) to draw visitor
attention to the floating dark mode switcher.
 * Added: Attention Effect Style selector with Pulse, Radiance, Leap, Swing, Drift,
and Nudge options (Pulse available; others coming soon).
 * Improved: Renamed “Customization” tab to “Floating Switch” for clearer admin
   panel labeling.
 * Improved: “Alternative Dark Mode Switch” field moved to a more logical position
   within the Floating Switch tab.
 * Fixed: PHP 8.1+ undefined-index and trim(null) notices in CSS attribute parser
when malformed CSS attributes lack a colon separator.
 * Fixed: Dark mode not applying inside the Gutenberg editor (WordPress 7 compatibility).

#### 1.5.2 – 05 May 2026

 * Added: Dark mode now applies to ::before and ::after pseudo-elements that have
a light background color. Colors alternate between primary and secondary dark
backgrounds, matching the same primary/secondary logic used for regular section
   elements.
 * Fixed: Switcher CSS now always loads in the page — no longer deferred to footer
on headless themes, shortcode pages, Elementor pages, or nav menu usage.
 * Fixed: Switcher CSS now only loads on pages where the switcher is actually used(
global floating switcher, shortcode, Gutenberg block, or nav menu) instead of
   on every page.
 * Improved: All switcher style handles are registered at init so the Gutenberg
block system and Elementor can reliably resolve them before wp_head fires.
 * Fixed: Gutenberg block (darkify/switcher) base CSS now loads automatically via
block.json — only when the block is present on a page.
 * Fixed: Removed a blanket enqueue of client_main.css that was loading on every
page via the block registration hook.
