### External services

#### Free Dictionary API (dictionaryapi.dev)

 * **What it is / what it is used for:** The Dictionary tool lets a visitor double-
click a word to view its definition in a popup. Definitions are fetched from
   the open-source Free Dictionary API.
 * **What data is sent and when:** A request is sent only when the Dictionary tool
is active and a visitor double-clicks a single Latin-character word (max 64 chars).
   The word is sent in the URL (`https://api.dictionaryapi.dev/api/v2/entries/en/{
word}`). No personal information, cookies or site URLs are transmitted.
 * **Service website:** https://dictionaryapi.dev/
 * **Source code and license (GPL-3.0):** https://github.com/meetDeveloper/freeDictionaryAPI

Features such as Google Translate integration and the AI-based accessibility checker
are provided by the separate One Accessibility Pro plugin.

## FAQ

### How does this WordPress accessibility plugin help with ADA compliance and WCAG?

The plugin helps improve your website **ada compliance** and WCAG 2.1 AA alignment
by adding crucial accessibility enhancements such as high-contrast modes, text sizing
controls, keyboard navigation highlights and screen reader-friendly markup. For
complete **accessibility compliance**, we recommend pairing this tool with manual
site audits and regular **accessibility testing**.

### Is One Accessibility GDPR compliant and privacy friendly?

Yes. The plugin stores feature usage statistics only in your own local WordPress
database (option `websac_usage_statistics`). It transmits no tracking data, no personal
data cookies and no telemetry to external servers.

### Does this WordPress accessibility plugin make a site completely compliant on its own?

The plugin provides visitors with instant accessibility controls and assistive profiles
to overcome visual, motor or cognitive barriers. For complete accessibility compliance,
site owners should combine the frontend accessibility tool with periodic accessibility
testing and proper semantic content structure.

### How do visitors activate the accessibility toolbar using only a keyboard?

Visitors can press CTRL+U or navigate through interactive elements using the Tab
key to open and operate the accessibility widget without a mouse.

### Can I customize the appearance of the accessibility widget?

Yes! You can completely customize the **Accessibility widget** button, position (
left, right, bottom), color palette, typography and layout using the built-in visual
editor so that it seamlessly matches your website branding.

### Does the plugin include an accessibility checker?

The free version includes a Statement Page helper and preset condition controls
while the advanced AI-powered **accessibility checker** and compliance monitoring
dashboard are available in One Accessibility Pro.

### Does the accessibility tool work on mobile devices and tablets?

Yes! The toolbar and **accessibility widget** are fully mobile-responsive and adapt
automatically to touchscreens and smaller viewports.

### Can I use this for international regulations like the European Accessibility Act?

Yes. By providing comprehensive tools for contrast, navigation, readability and
assistive user profiles, the plugin supports web inclusion initiatives that align
with international frameworks like WCAG 2.1, Section 508, ADA and the European **
Accessibility Act**.

### Will this plugin conflict with my existing theme or page builder?

No conflicts. One Accessibility is built with modular React components and standard
WordPress APIs to run smoothly with Elementor, Gutenberg, Beaver Builder, Divi,
Bricks and all modern themes.

### What user profiles are included in the accessibility tool?

The plugin includes pre-configured profiles for Motor Impairment, Blindness & Low
Vision, Color Blindness, Dyslexia, Cognitive Disabilities, Seizure & Epilepsy Safety
and ADHD accommodations.

### How does the dictionary tooltip feature work?

When a visitor switches on the Dictionary tool in the toolbar and double-clicks
a single word, the plugin fetches that word definition via the Free Dictionary API
and displays it in a clean tooltip. The definition can also be read aloud via the
browser native speech synthesis without sending personal tracking data.

### Will this plugin slow down my website?

No. The plugin is engineered for high performance with lightweight scripts, on-demand
component loading and zero bloat.

### Where do I report security vulnerabilities found in this plugin?

Please report security vulnerabilities found in the source code of the One Accessibility
plugin through the [Patchstack Vulnerability Disclosure Program](https://patchstack.com/database/vdp/e9ff4b57-776a-4327-88d4-030a5a33d186).

Very strange wording for functions, took a while to find out, not usable for other
languages and user is confused about reset, which is not enabled in preset by default
>> footer setting Active Preference. What does active preference mean for the logic
user? A typical Nerd Problem with speaking to normal people…Anyway, maybe it is
working with some themes, but i tried 2 different themes which had problems to reset
the once made choice …Deleted
