Description
BZ-ClaimFinder helps WordPress editors find claims that may need human verification before publishing.
It highlights statements that deserve attention and explains what editors should review and why. It works with both AI-generated and human-written content in the Gutenberg editor.
What BZ-ClaimFinder checks
BZ-ClaimFinder identifies potential review items in five categories:
- Unsupported statistics: Numbers, percentages, and statistical claims that may require supporting evidence.
- Unsupported specific facts: Specific factual statements or assertions that may need verification.
- Attributed claims: Statements attributed to organizations, research, or other sources that may require source verification.
- Time-sensitive claims: Information that may change over time and should be checked against the relevant date or period.
- Potentially outdated sources: Sources whose dates may not align with the time period described in the article.
An older source is not automatically treated as a problem. BZ-ClaimFinder considers whether the source’s time period is appropriate for the claim.
How it works
- Write or edit a post or page in Gutenberg.
- Run BZ-ClaimFinder from the editor sidebar.
- Review the items flagged for human attention.
- See the relevant claim, why it needs attention, and a suggested action.
- Verify or revise the content before publishing.
BZ-ClaimFinder supports OpenAI and Anthropic using your own API key.
Important limitations
BZ-ClaimFinder is a review assistant, not a complete fact-checking service.
It does not independently verify facts, validate every external source, or guarantee the accuracy of claims.
It may not identify every claim that needs verification.
The final publishing decision remains with the editor.
Article data is sent to the selected AI provider only when an authorized user explicitly runs BZ-ClaimFinder.
External Services
OpenAI
OpenAI is used to analyze the review payload and return structured human-review items. Data is sent only when an authorized user explicitly runs BZ-ClaimFinder. The payload may include the article title, relevant Gutenberg block text, links included in the review payload, publication context, and review instructions/prompt. The site administrator provides the OpenAI API key (BYOK); the plugin stores it server-side in a WordPress option and sends it to OpenAI only for the request. See the OpenAI policies for current provider information.
Anthropic
Anthropic is used to analyze the review payload and return structured human-review items. Data is sent only when an authorized user explicitly runs BZ-ClaimFinder. The payload may include the article title, relevant Gutenberg block text, links included in the review payload, publication context, and review instructions/prompt. The site administrator provides the Anthropic API key (BYOK); the plugin stores it server-side in a WordPress option and sends it to Anthropic only for the request. See the Anthropic Privacy Center and Anthropic policies and terms for current provider information.
The plugin itself does not include analytics, telemetry, tracking, or advertising.
Privacy
When BZ-ClaimFinder is explicitly run, article data in the review payload is sent to the selected AI provider. Site administrators should review the provider’s current terms and privacy information and their site’s own privacy obligations before enabling the feature.
